The Word of God is forever the same. Though it doesn’t change, society around us certainly does.
When missionaries take the Gospel to another culture, the question is, ‘How can we present the Gospel to the people of the culture in a way that makes it possible for them to understand and believe it?
21st Century society has changed enormously, while church culture has remained basically the same for the last few hundred years. The challenge for the church is, ‘How can it adapt to the society around it today, in order that it may present the eternal Gospel?’
The idea of ‘Meristems’ seeks a way to do this. It offers a structure for two to four people to meet regularly to read the Bible together.
- Sharing the Word leaflet. When you invite someone to read the Bible with you, it helps to be able to leave a written explanation while they think over your invitation. If you print this double-sided A4 leaflet, then add your name and contact details at the end, they know how to get back in touch.
- Meristems Leader’s Guide. This provides the thinking behind meristems and gives guidance on how to do one.
