In the beginning was the Word, and the Word was with God, and the Word was God. He was with God in the beginning……. The Word became flesh and made His dwelling among us. (John 1:1,2,14)

JESUS IS THE WORD OF GOD.  He is the communication of God with mankind.

The subject of the Bible is Jesus. He is the Word of God made flesh among us, and the Bible is His written Word. He describes it as  ‘the Scriptures that speak about me… Moses wrote about me’ (John 5:39,46). On the day of the resurrection, with Cleopas and a friend, ‘He explained to them what was said about Him in all the Scriptures.’ (Luke 24:27b)

When a lover sends a message to their loved one, it becomes their prized possession. It is never a distraction from or an alternative to their lover. Rather it is their closest contact with them,  an expression of their identity and character.

Similarly, the Bible is never a substitute for Jesus. Rather it is His communication to His loved one, who cherishes it and reads it to keep in touch with His mind and will.
