Funeral Training

booklet in preparation

The course was devised by Nigel Barge when working with Rutherford House in the early 2000s.

During this time many from all over Scotland participated in this funeral training.

All participants were encouraged in their care of bereaved folks and many went on to participate in the taking of funeral services.

The course is interactive and very easily presented. It may be useful to a presbytery or a diocese for training a group or it may simply be used by a church leader to train up a member of their own.

In either case, observation of and discussion with a practitioner is a vital supplement to the course, for teaching and building the confidence of the trainee.

(Even though the context for this was Scotland in the year 2000, the principles identified could profitably be applied in other situations and at other times.)
